This 8-day tour will take you from the region of Eastern Senegal, to discover a unique nature, between forests and mountains. You will meet the local ethnic groups and their ancestral customs and carry out a safari to discover a rich fauna. Change of scenery guaranteed!
Day 1: Blaise Diagne International Airport – Ndayane
Welcome at Blaise Diagne International Airport. Transfer to your hotel in Ndayane.
Day 2: Ndayane – Kaolack – Wassadou
After breakfast, early departure to Eastern Senegal (around 7 hours drive) via Kaolack, a crossroads city and large shopping center between Gambian traders and Senegalese traders from the interior. Lunch along the way. Late arrival and installation at the campsite near the Niokolo Koba National Park. Dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Wassadou – Niokolo Koba Park – Wassadou
Wake up to the Gambia River. You may have the chance to spot hippos, crocodiles … Breakfast and departure for a day safari in the park of Niokolo Koba, the last Senegalese wildlife sanctuary; you will see monkeys, hartebeest, warthogs and s … maybe you will have the chance to see lions. Picnic in the park. You will be with a guide who will explain the flora and fauna found in the park. Return to the camp. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Wassadou – Kédougou
Breakfast and departure to the eastern region of Senegal (5 hours drive) … change of scenery guaranteed. After crossing the Niokolo Koba park, you will stop in Mako to see the gold panners. Lunch. Then you will continue the road to Kédougou. The landscapes of the Bassari, Peul and Bedik countries, located in the Kédougou region, were inscribed on the World Heritage List in 2012. These peoples settled there between the 11th and 19th centuries and developed specific cultures, living in symbiosis with the natural environment. Installation at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Kédougou – Ibel – Iwol – Bandafassi – Kédougou
Breakfast and departure for Ibel, an old marble quarry. Then you will climb Iwol (about 1 hour climb) to discover a Bedik village, with a magnificent view.
The Bedik, one of the smallest ethnic minorities in Senegal with traditions and lifestyles still preserved. Nicknamed “people of the happy valley” because of the many festivals they celebrate, the Bediks still wear plant masks today during initiation rituals.
On your return you will have lunch at Bandafassi. You can visit the village before returning to Kédougou. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Kédougou – Dindéfello
Breakfast and departure to the border with Guinea, in Dindéfello. Then on foot, you will walk about 30 minutes in the forest before arriving at the superb Dindéféllo waterfalls. Once there, the wonder seems to recognize your bravery and offers you an unprecedented spectacle conducive to relaxation, relaxation, meditation … You can swim in the large pool for the bravest! Picnic lunch. You will leave for Kédougou. Visit of the Kédougou market. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 7: Kédougou – Tambacounda – Kaolack
Breakfast and departure from Kédougou for the return (about 9 hours by road) via Tambacounda where lunch will be scheduled. Continue to Kaolack. Installation at your hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Kaolack – Gorée Island – Blaise Diagne International Airport
Breakfast and early transfer to Dakar, then boarding the boat, direction Gorée Island, historical heritage, starting point for the slave trade in the 14th century.
Guided tour of the island and lunch in a restaurant. Return to Dakar by boat and transfer to the airport for your return flight. Boarding assistance. End of our services.
