This 8-day tour will take you from the Dakar region to that of Saint-Louis. You will discover a rich and atypical nature, like for example the Pink Lake, the Lompoul Desert, or even the Langue de Barbarie. You will also visit the essential ‘Gorée Island’. An unforgettable stay under the sun of Senegal!
Day 1: Airport – Lac Rose
Welcome at Blaise Diagne International Airport. Transfer by air-conditioned minibus to Lac Rose. A welcome cocktail will be offered upon arrival at the hotel.
Accommodation in a hotel with 2 swimming pools. Dinner on site and accommodation in independent bungalows with air-conditioned double room.
Day 2: Lac Rose – Lompoul Desert
After breakfast we will test the vehicles around Lac Rose where you can also swim.
Departure for the Lompoul desert, with a picnic organized in the bush for lunch. The journey will be carried out in several stages (as during the entire duration of the orientation raid). You will ride on the tracks through many villages and the tide times will allow us to ride part of the way directly on the beach.
Arrival at destination in the middle of the afternoon to enjoy the desert, its dunes and the activity “surfing on the sand” (Possibility to also take a camel ride – paid option).
Accommodation and dinner in a lodge of Berber tents under the stars, spacious, with private shower room.
Evening dance and traditional music to the sound of tams tams before dinner. After the meal, campfire in the dunes and under the stars to end the evening.
Day 3: Lompoul Desert – Sowène
After breakfast at the camp, departure to the Saint-Louis region. Picnic lunch in the shade of the casuaries of the Langue de Barbarie National Park; the place is sublime, you can swim. Arrival at the end of the afternoon at your lodge, facing the Langue de Barbarie and the Atlantic Ocean. You will be housed in large tents on stilts.
You can relax by the swimming pool or in the lagoon, go kayaking (free), or enjoy a massage (payable) or go by pirogue to visit the Birds Island (payable).
Day 4: Sowène – Saint-Louis – Sowène
After a breakfast at the lodge, we leave by minibus to visit the island of Saint Louis about thirty kilometers away, its historic buildings, its fishing port.
Then have lunch in a typical local restaurant, followed by a horse-drawn carriage tour of the city of Saint-Louis.
Return in the afternoon to the lodge. Dinner will be by the pool.
(Possibility for this day to make an excursion to the Djoudj National Park (3rd bird sanctuary in the world), at an additional cost – on request and in advance).
Day 5: Lompoul – Sowène
Depart from the Lompoul Desert to reach your lodge in Sowène, on the banks of the Langue de Barbarie, via the bush tracks and the beach.
Day 6: Sowène – Saint-Louis – Sowène
Jeep willys to Saint-Louis. Horse-drawn carriage ride with a local guide. Lunch in a restaurant in town; Afternoon, possibility to visit the galleries and the photography museum. At the end of the afternoon, transfer to your lodge in Sowène.
Day 7: Sowène
Free day with full board (swimming, sports activities …).
Day 8: Sowène – Airport
Breakfast. Free day at the lodge with lunch included. Transfer to the airport.
