Savannah by Bike
Discover Senegal in a different way, take the time to appreciate the landscapes, to observe nature, to chat with the people you meet along the way.
This bike tour will take you to the region of Saint-Louis, through the savannah and semi-desert landscapes, on bush tracks.
The route is suitable for all audiences, and does not present any particular difficulty. An original and unique way to immerse yourself in the local atmosphere.
Program
Day 1: Airport – Gandiole
Arrival at the airport
Transfer to your hotel in Gandiole, on the banks of the Senegal River, along the Langue de Barbarie.
Day 2: Gandiole
Breakfast. Rest until 10 a.m. The pool awaits you. Briefing on the program. Departure for the village of Gandiole. Return for lunch.
Departure in the afternoon for a 12 km journey in the savannah around Gandiole. Aperitif in a camp by the river, then return for dinner at your hotel.
Day 3: Gandiole
Breakfast then departure for the Guembeul reserve. Visit on foot then picnic lunch.
On the way back, observation of the sparrowhawk fishermen, detour by the salt lakes then arrival at your hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gandiole – Sowène – Gandiole
Breakfast then departure for a ten-kilometer bike ride towards a lodge in Sowène. Visit of the onion gardens. Lunch and swimming at the lodge. Return by pirogue with your bikes towards the hotel.
On the way, visit the natural park of the Langue de Barbarie and the Bird Island. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Gandiole – Sowène – Guélakh
Breakfast then departure for Rao passing by the small marshes. Picnic lunch then visit to the Rao market.
Loading of the bikes into horse-drawn carts towards Guélakh (because of a lot of sand). Visit to the village of Guélakh. Dinner and overnight in bivouac.
Day 6: Guélakh – Dialakhah
Breakfast. The carriages take you to Dialakhah on the edge of a marsh. By bike, you follow a 25 km track to the next bivouac.
Along the way, a meal stop is planned under a tent. Dinner and overnight in bivouac.
Day 7: Dialakhah – Saint-Louis
Breakfast then departure for Bango passing by the dikes on the edge of the Senegal River. A vehicle will pick up the bikes to join Saint-Louis.
Lunch in town in a Senegalese restaurant. City tour by bike of the former capital of French West Africa.
Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Saint-Louis.
Day 8: Saint-Louis – Airport
Breakfast and free morning. Departure for the airport with free lunch.
Assistance with boarding. End of our services.
