La Reine du Fleuve (The Queen of the River)
This 8-day tour will take you to the north of Senegal, where you will go up the river of the same name to discover the kingdom of the Toucouleurs, in the region of Podor. Along the water, you will discover the Sahelian fauna and flora, as well as the bush villages and their authentic and welcoming population.
La Reine du Fleuve, this pirogue specially fitted out for the transport of visitors, will allow you to travel differently, off the beaten track, to discover the real Senegal.
Program
Day 1: Airport – Lac Rose
Arrival, welcome and transfer to the Lac Rose. Night.
Day 2: Lac Rose – Saint-Louis
Short visit to the lake and its surroundings. Transfer to Saint-Louis.
Local lunch. Check-in at the hotel, city tour by bike. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 3: Saint-Louis – Donaye – Podor – Ngawlé
Breakfast and transfer to Donaye. Boarding.
Visit of Donaye (Omarienne Mosque to visit, the village is made of earth). Navigation to Podor.
Small pedestrian walk then departure by pirogue to Ngawlé. Lunch on board. Arrival, visit, dinner and bivouac.
Day 4: Ngawlé – Ourou Madiou
Translate to English: Breakfast. Start of the walk and visit to Leboudou Doué.
We leave the Senegal River to reach the arm of the Doué River, which surrounds the island of Morphile (called the Ivory Island at the time).
Lunch on board or on the riverbank. Visit and arrival at Ourou Madiou. Dinner and overnight in bivouac.
Day 5: Ourou Madiou – Mbantou
Breakfast. Walk along the river, and navigation. Lunch on board.
Arrival at Mbantou, visit. Dinner and bivouac under the stars on the red dunes of Mbantou.
Day 6: Mbantou – Djoudj – Sowène
Breakfast. Departure to the Djoudj National Bird Park.
Arrival and lunch at the villagers’ camp. Visit the park in the early afternoon.
Then, continue to your lodge on the riverbank. Check-in to your tents, cabins or stilt bungalows. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Sowène
Free day with full board.
Day 8: Sowène – Airport
Free day with lunch included. Transfer to the airport.
