“Between People & Nature” offers you a stay combining the meeting offriendly locals and the discovery of an exceptional fauna and vegetation.

You will be accommodated in accommodation selected for their environmental approach and their integration into the natural environment.

You will discover several regions of Senegal, between desert, savannah and mangrove.

 

Program

Day 1: Blaise Diagne International Airport – Dakar

Welcome by our correspondent at the airport and transfer to your hotel in Dakar. Free dinner (not included). Overnight at your hotel.

 

 

Day 2: Gorée Island – Lompoul Desert

Breakfast. You will go to the pier to take the boat which will take you to the island of Gorée after 20 minutes crossing.

Visit the House of Slaves then stroll on the cliff of the island called Castel. Stroll through the charming alleys of the island, lined with houses dating back to the colonial era. Lunch. Possibility of swimming at Gorée beach.

Return to Dakar in the early afternoon, from where you will go to the Lompoul desert (about 3 hours by road), located in the Louga region, Installation at your camp. You can go watch the sunset over the dunes. Djembé entertainment around the fire, tasting of Warang Liqueur. Dinner and overnight in bivouac.

 

 

Day 3: Lompoul – Ferlo region

Breakfast. Walk in the dunes and possibility for those who wish to do a camel ride (€ 6 per person extra). Walk to the beach. Departure for the Ferlo region. Local lunch on the road.

Installation at your camp. Walk to meet the Fulani nomads, these breeders with a traditional way of life. With a little luck, you will arrive at the time of milking the cows and you will be able to lend a hand. Campfire and entertainment after dinner with a Fulani troop playing tam-tam and kora (also called riti). Night at the camp.

 

 

Day 4: Touba – Simal

Breakfast. Depart by carriage to the weekly Sam Yaba market. Then departure to Saloum. On the road visit Touba with its mosque. It is one of the largest cities of Senegal, by its demography, its mainly tertiary economic activity.

Local lunch on the road. Installation at the lodge. Possibility to swim in the lagoon or in the establishment’s swimming pool. Dinner and Overnight.

 

 

Day 5: Simal

Breakfast in front of the river. Between March and July, you may have the chance to witness the unique and incredible spectacle of zebus crossing the backwater from end to end to drink at Simal.

Longline or trolling fishing which will suit both beginners and beginners, aboard a motorized canoe; freshly caught fish will be served at a picnic lunch on an island.

Then return to your lodge. Possibility of walking in the village and / or swimming. Wrestling fight in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

 

Day 6: Simal – Palmarin

Breakfast. Then departure for the visit of Djilor, a neighboring village. You will see a cooperative of women who process fruit and vegetables and can buy their local products at the store. Visit the house of Senghor.

Lunch with a Senegalese family with a typical dish. Departure for Palmarin via the superb coconut forest of Samba dia. Installation at your lodge. Departure in the afternoon in a horse-drawn carriage to visit the salt wells and hopefully we will see the women harvesting the salt (depending on the season). Then we will leave from there, at dusk in search of hyenas who can wander through the savannah. Return to the lodge. Dinner and Overnight.

 

 

Day 7: Palmarin

Breakfast. Ride in a pirogue and visit the mangrove via different bolongs and discover the many species of birds it shelters. Lunch at the lodge.

Free afternoon to enjoy the sea and the swimming pool. You can borrow bikes to explore the surrounding area and even horses (additional charge). Show of women of the village who sing in serere with calabashes as musical instrument. Dinner and Overnight.

 

 

Day 8: Joal Fadiouth – Lac Rose – Blaise Diagne International Airport

Breakfast. Departure in the morning for Joal Fadiouth. Arrival at Joal and crossing the bridge to reach the shellfish island of Fadiouth. Visit its mixed cemetery (Christian and Muslim), the village and its small granaries on stilts. Lunch in Fadiouth.

Continue to Lac Rose, a large lagoon of approximately 3 km², shallow and surrounded by dunes just a few meters from the Atlantic Ocean. It is located 35 km northeast of Dakar.

After a short visit to the saltworks, you can have an aperitif by the lake (not included) before going to Blaise Diagne airport. Boarding assistance. End of our services.
